Different Types of Bridles for Competing
Published by admin on July 29, 2011Dressage is a very popular sport and if you’ve been interested in it for sometime I would strongly recommend giving it a go. Dressage is great fun and is brilliant for people who do not enjoy the speed and danger of taking part in hunter trails, cross-country or showjumping. Dressage is also a great thing to take part in if you wish to build a bond between you and your horse.
Although you can take part in lower level dressage in a GP saddle you may wish to purchase a dressage saddle if you really enjoy it. There are many different types of bridles which can be used but I’d recommend using a snaffle bridle. Different types of bridles can be used at lower level but once you get to Elemenatary level or above you are expected to compete in a double bridle. So next time you go out shopping why not consider different types of bridles which may suit your start in dressage.
If you plan to work your horse hard because of competing I would also consider purchasing exercise rugs. They come in very handy when it rains at competitions or when at home and it can keep them very warm when being ridden in the winter. Exercise rugs do come in different sizes than standard rugs so do be careful.
