For about a month now I’ve had pain in my hip and I have previously stress fractured my opposite hip and the pain feels exactly the same. My parents won’t have medical insurance for a couple more weeks as paperwork is being taken care of and I have basketball practices. My coach says that I have to continue until I get confirmation from the doctor that it is truly injured. What can I do to help the hip until I have the opportunity to go to the doctor?
Your coach is an idiot, no good coach would force a player to play if he doesn’t feel up to snuff. This is the same BS with cheerleading not being a sport, those girls do high jumps, flips and spins with NO protective equipment, that is insane! The coaches typically have about 10 hours worth of training for emergency medical procedures, really 10 hours, a doctor has to go to school for nearly 8 years to treat a patient, nurses for about 2-4 years. I would say a splint but since you said this is a hip there is no real splint for that. Go to an emergency room if you have to, they will do an x-ray and confirm it or not. If he insists you play hurt, dude I would quit the team, it’s not worth your health especially at this young age to cripple yourself for life just to play a few more practices. Remember those cheerleaders? I’ve read report after report of them being becoming paraplegic, paralyzed, brain damage you name it from doing cheers and these are 16 year old girls, who had their life in front of them, and now they have to depend on others because a coach couldn’t understand that pride will force kids to admit they are not hurt when in fact they are.

Dressage is a very popular sport and if you’ve been interested in it for sometime I would strongly recommend giving it a go. Dressage is great fun and is brilliant for people who do not enjoy the speed and danger of taking part in hunter trails, cross-country or showjumping. Dressage is also a great thing to take part in if you wish to build a bond between you and your horse.
Although you can take part in lower level dressage in a GP saddle you may wish to purchase a dressage saddle if you really enjoy it. There are many different types of bridles which can be used but I’d recommend using a snaffle bridle. Different types of bridles can be used at lower level but once you get to Elemenatary level or above you are expected to compete in a double bridle. So next time you go out shopping why not consider different types of bridles which may suit your start in dressage.
If you plan to work your horse hard because of competing I would also consider purchasing exercise rugs. They come in very handy when it rains at competitions or when at home and it can keep them very warm when being ridden in the winter. Exercise rugs do come in different sizes than standard rugs so do be careful.

Here is another super cute hairstyle in our Daddy ‘Do series! It uses a simple high ponytail, secured with a single hairband. Then, take 1/4 of the ponytail and divide it… twisting the two sections around each other tightly and rubber band the end. Do the same for the other three sections. Accessorize as desired… and enjoy!
You will notice that my husband is getting much better at securing elastics than he was in the previous Daddy Do’s! I taught him the trick this time!
