I’m 18 and i’m in college, and i know almost nothing about stocks. My major is Civil Engineering. I was thinking of investing money into stocks so that i can help my parents pay for my college tuition.
So can someone explain how to works? Also, how can i profit from it? I want to start like small and build up. Like maybe $500. Is that enough? Please can someone help me understand it?

The best way for a novice to invest in stocks is with a stock Mutual fund. With a stock Mutual fund you can lose 40%+ or make 80%+ in a year…. both extremes have been done but are rare. The average per year, for a ten year period can be 6-10% realistically. That’s with professional management.
So if you invest the $500… you can on average make $50 a year.
If you decide to "trade" stocks yourself… and you’re successful… the average day trader makes about 20% per year (on $500 that’s $100). It can take 3-5 years to learn how to day trade successfully. Most people fail in well under a year.
