Parenting Advice……..PLEASE HELP!?
Published by admin on January 30, 2011Ok here’s the deal. My oldest is 2 and loves playing in her room during the day. Recently (as in the past couple days), she has either been climbing over her safety gate in her doorway, or pushing it down and getting out of her room. What can I buy or use to keep her in her room while I do the things I need to do during the day?
I also have a infant daughter that I have to look after while my oldest is doing this. I also go to school online. Please do not patronize me for my parnting techniques. I do love my kids and would do absolutely anything to keep them safe.
Well, It seems to me that if she is climbing over her gate and pushing it down she doesn’t want to be in there anymore. Why not just get rid of the gate and let her roam freely? I understand if you wanted to keep her OUT of a certain room, but why confine her to one room even if she loves to be in there? My 2 year old son likes to help me do chores. Or he will go in and out of his room as he pleases…

I find that keeping them entertained helps…coloring…watching a movie…and my son absolutely loves to help me clean….give em a wet rag..he will go for hours AND worn out doing it!

you can buy these extra high gates they are really high so she can’t climb over them, They are actually designed for dogs but are good for children as well. And they are wall mounted so she cant push them ou of the wall. But I think its good to have toys in the living room area as well so you can keep a eye on her. And just to spend some time with her too.

Personally, if possible I would just childproof her room and work on teaching her how to behave in her room not trying to keep her out of it. Things to watch for would be her climbing up her drawers onto her dresser so anchor furniture to the wall. No lotions, wipes, etc out where she can get in them. If she makes a mess of her clothes in her drawers make her pick them up………………
