Thanks for the extra bit about position&stretching…great advice! My 1st two births were 1 1/2-2 hours total, body pushed for me, went w/the “pain” using water,breathing, low tones, second was born in car outside ER on my side…expecting third in day or two…

@katie100ster – …
@katie100ster – Dude, did you hear what she said? Fear is the number one reason giving birth is painful, stalled, stressful, etc. Do a ton of research before you give birth, and do a lot of work on your attitude about it, and your chances are MUCH better of having a joyful, painless birth. Just because it’s intense, doesn’t mean “painful”

@Lavenderrose73 I never had a water birth, though I booked in to have one: they didn’t fill the tub in time for the first; & they didn’t believe I was really giving birth for the second, even though I tried to persuade them to look to see how dilated I was (‘my’ midwife arrived 45 mins after I’d given birth!). It’s supposed to be less of a shock for the baby, & it helps the mother due to weightlessness. In the end, you just want to concentrate on getting your baby out with ease.

Shoot, if I ever get married and have a baby I hope I find a coach with the same mindset as you because my family sure as heck won’t! (I can just see it, “You’re high risk… nya nya nya nya!” x P And I certainly hope whomever I marry will be supportive of whatever kind of birth I want to have.

I agree with you…I’m having my third and my first two were not painful…uncomfortable yes but not painful. I try and explain this to other expectant mothers but most of them just scoff. Mothers need to be more aware of what their bodies are capable of.

The unknown is …
The unknown is scary, so that’s understandable. When you get fearful, force all those scary thoughts & feelings to transform by feeling the baby in your womb. Feel your body carrying the baby, etc. The more you practice this, the more in control you’ll feel when you give birth. It’s a kind of meditation. Then enjoy the beauty of what your body is able to do. Stay within your body. Stretching the abdomen & breathing into the feelings help. How exciting. Have a wonderful birth.

Epis take away your …
Epis take away your control as you can’t feel at all (so you shouldn’t have pain, tho not always) so can be slower, & more bruising as u often push when not fully open as u have to rely on midwife, not yourself. A partial 1 is better as u can still move your lower body. I met 1 woman who was paralised after, but this is rare. Pls go for no intervention as i suggest. Feel your body. It really is wonderful. But if you’re sure, I understand. Good to trust ur instincts. Practice meditation to know.
Nice video but i …
Nice video but i really wish it was easier to find ne about epidurals than natural childbirth. I am never going natural and i’m trying very hard to look for a video of a woman giving birth with an epi and i just can’t find one.

Thank you for your comment. Good luck with your birth. I hope you enjoy it. Remember to feel your body fully & stretch your abdomen. Let me know how it went (if you get a chance with all that new-ness!)

Thank you! how very kind of you to support other women in taking back their births! I wish more of us could give each other loving, good advise instead of saying things like,” Its gonna hurt like hell! You’re gonna want that epi!” My baby is due 12/6/08. Here we go! Peace and love!
